My friend Brent Thomas has a new podcast. Brent is a connoisseur of fine music and shares some of his finding each month on the Habanero Hour. I am digging the first two editions.

Woke up this morning to find my buddy Justin Anderson’s mug on the front page of the local paper. It is a great story about Praxis Church.

“No further entry of the Supreme God into the tangle and bewilderment of finitude can be conceived. All that we can suffer or physical or mental anguish is within the divine experience; He has known it all Himself. He does not leave this world to suffer while He remains at ease apart; all the suffering of the world is His.”

“Jesus Christ, perfect man, has drunk to the very dregs the cup of our sins. He has endured their consequences to the uttermost extent. So fully did He make Himself one with sinful man that he entered into the God-forsakenness that is the lot of sinners. He died their death.”
- Leon Morris

“So completely was Jesus bent upon saving sinners by the sacrifice of Himself, He created the tree upon which He was to die, and nurtured from infancy the men who were to nail Him to the accursed wood.”
- Octavius Winslow, The Foot of the Cross

“All inadequate doctrines of the atonement are due to inadequate doctrines of God and man. If we bring God down to our level and raise ourselves to his, then of course we see no need for a radical salvation, let alone for a radical atonement to secure it. When, on the other hand, we have glimpsed the blinding glory of the holiness of God, and have been so convicted of our sin by the Holy Spirit that we tremble before God and acknowledge what we are, namely ‘hell-deserving sinners’, then and only then does the necessity of the cross appear so obvious that we are astonished we never saw it before.”
- John Stott

“[Christ’s] BLOOD, was to fill the world with His glory, heaven with His redeemed, and eternity with His praise!”

Today’s Tempe Republic has an article about the new chaplaincy program we are doing with the Tempe Police Department. Good article giving the details of the program. And she closed the article with a redemptive and missional quote I gave her…
“Law enforcement officers see a different side of the city of Tempe,” he said. “Seeing some of the brokenness and darkness in the city has affected me and given me more of an idea about where we can serve to bring restoration and healing in Tempe.”
